RESEARCH SKILLS EDUCATION

Research skills are the abilities students develop to find, understand, evaluate, organise and communicate information effectively. In an increasingly digital world, students have access to an enormous amount of information through search engines, websites, social media, online databases and AI tools. However, having access to information does not necessarily mean that students know how to use it effectively.
Research Skills education helps students become independent, critical and responsible learners. Students learn how to identify what information they need, ask meaningful questions, locate relevant and reliable sources, distinguish facts from opinions, analyse and interpret information, and use evidence to support their ideas and conclusions.
Learning Through the Research Process
Research Skills can therefore be viewed as a continuous process:
Ask → Search → Evaluate → Organise → Analyse → Create → Communicate → Reflect
